Global Mall at the Crossings, formerly Hickory Hollow Mall, opened in Nashville's Antioch neighborhood in August 1978 and grew into Tennessee's largest and highest-grossing shopping center at its peak, with 249 stores. Occupancy collapsed to just a dozen retailers by 2012, prompting more than $50 million in revitalization efforts that brought in 58 internationally-themed tenants by 2016. Despite that push, the mall closed for good in 2019 after 41 years and is slated for demolition in 2026.
