What Time Do Malls Close on Christmas Eve?

Many malls close around 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Some close earlier and others later; Mall of America, for example, published a 6 p.m. close for Christmas Eve 2025. Malls open at their normal morning time — often earlier during the December rush — so Christmas Eve is a full shopping day that simply ends early.

Department-store anchors sometimes run an hour past the mall corridors for last-minute shoppers, since they have their own exterior entrances. If you're cutting it close, the anchor stores are your best bet — but call ahead rather than betting Christmas on it.
