The Gateway Mall

The Gateway in Salt Lake City combines open-air retail with residential and office space around the historic Union Pacific Depot, once hosting as many as 89 stores before shifting toward dining and nightlife. A Fidelity Investments office tower opened on the property in 2007, and after occupancy declined through the 2010s, Vestar purchased the center in 2016 and invested roughly $100 million in renovations. The Megaplex Theatres there hosted Sundance Film Festival screenings in 2023.
