Amarillo's Westgate Mall opened in October 1982 at a construction cost of $40 million and sits along Interstate 40. The indoor center holds more than 100 mainline stores alongside two Dillard's locations and a JCPenney, with one anchor space vacant since the former Sears department store closed in 2019. Unusually, the Potter-Randall county line runs straight through the JCPenney store.
