St. Charles Towne Center opened in the late 1980s within the St. Charles planned community in Waldorf, Maryland, and remains the only regional mall serving Southern Maryland. The two-level enclosed center spans nearly a million square feet and draws shoppers from the southern D.C. suburbs. Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenney, Kohl's, and Macy's anchor the property, and the former Sears space is slated for conversion into a county sports and wellness complex.
