Mid City Mall, in Louisville, Kentucky's Highlands neighborhood, breaks from the typical suburban mall mold by combining its enclosed shopping area with a comedy club, bar, grocery store, and public library. A 1994 Courier-Journal profile described it as functioning like a community center and courthouse square as much as a retail destination. The 11.5-acre property went up for sale in November 2024, and by 2025 redevelopment proposals, including plans for a grocery store, had begun circulating for a mixed-use future.
