The Marketplace at Steamtown
Scranton, Pennsylvania

The Marketplace at Steamtown, originally called The Mall at Steamtown, opened in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1993 after nearly a decade of planning as a centerpiece of the city's revitalization. Built on land once used by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad, the two-level mall includes a food court overlooking the adjacent Steamtown National Historic Site, linked by a pedestrian bridge. Its opening drew national television coverage, and the mall later gained further recognition through appearances on NBC's The Office.
