Block 37 Shops, officially 108 North State Street, occupies a full downtown block in Chicago's Loop bordered by Randolph, State, Washington, and Dearborn streets. The site sat empty for years after a contested 1989 demolition and a series of collapsed redevelopment plans, including a stalled construction effort and a change in ownership through foreclosure. Development finally reached completion in 2016, though the underground transit station beneath the block remains only partially built.
