An open-air lifestyle center about 27 miles southeast of downtown Nashville, The Avenue Murfreesboro broke ground in 2006 and the first phase opening that October with 660,000 square feet of retail. A second phase brought the total to 811,000 square feet, and anchors today include Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Belk, and Barnes & Noble among more than a hundred stores. Cousins Properties and Faison Enterprises developed the center before selling it to Hines Global REIT in 2013.
