Mall at Bay Plaza
Bronx, New York
The Mall at Bay Plaza rises at the southern edge of Co-op City in the Bronx, on ground once occupied by the Freedomland U.S.A. amusement park. Built between 1987 and 1988 by Prestige Properties, it pairs Macy's, JCPenney, and Old Navy with a multiplex theater, a fitness club, restaurants, and office space. It ranks as New York City's largest shopping center and, after more than 35 years in business, still reports some of the highest per-square-foot sales among national retailers.
