Opened in March 1977 along the Hackensack River, The Shops at Riverside launched with a 237,000-square-foot Bloomingdale's, expanded from a freestanding store dating to 1959, plus a Saks Fifth Avenue. Known as Riverside Square Mall until 2005, the two-level, 658,000-square-foot property now counts Bloomingdale's, Barnes & Noble, Pottery Barn, AMC Theatres, and Arhaus among its 66 stores. It draws shoppers from Bergen, Essex, and Passaic counties as well as New York's Rockland County.
